The movie starts with Puri thakur returning in a Rolls Royce and entering his house through an army style parade. He is then seen sitting in his office when he receives a call from Sumitra Chatterjee (Vijay Raaz), who wants to meet him urgently. He meets her and tells her that he will do a favour for which she should repay him a large amount of money. She agrees to pay up when she gets her daughter Purabi (Aisha Sharma) married to the son of Robert Kaur (Ravi Baswani), the richest man in town. The married couple, Purabi and Vicky, are honeymooning when Sumitra arrives with their lawyer to announce at their house that they have got divorced. Purabi is furious and shouts at them both, while Sumitra is shocked and claims that she never got married with Vicky pregnant beside him. Purabi and Vicky go to meet the lawyer, who tells them that there is no divorce and they can choose to either get married or split up. Purabi then decides that she will not get married to anyone else and will only get her divorce papers signed if Sumitra marries Vicky. Sumitra agrees, while Vicky's father feels bad for his son. Later, while privately summing up her marriage to Robert Kaur, Sumitra realises that she never actually loved him and so it all seems like a joke for her. Robert Kaur is a kind person and he understands her ideas, so he also comes to the conclusion that their marriage is a joke. Purabi's father is a hot shot in politics and so gets Robert Kaur involved in it. Robert Kaur joins the party and even becomes the election candidate, much to the delight of Purabi's father. In all this, whenever Purabi's father hears that Robert Kaur married his daughter for money, he becomes very upset. In one of the parties that Robert Kaur goes to attend, he meets a man who looks exactly like him except for his clothes and mannerisms.
